Ashish Das

New Delhi based contemporary visual artist, Ashish has had solo and group shows in Delhi in 1997, 1999, 2000, 2003 and in New York in 2012 & 2014 (The biggest digital exhibition, ATTS, currently See|Me) and again in New York in 2013 (Story of the creatives). His works have been collected by numerous prominent personalities in India, Canada, UK and the USA.

Ashish thinks of his paintings as his observation of and response to the existence. For him, forms are very physical and always running towards the centre. Colors are nothings but interactions between forms. And symmetry is an illusion.

Even though he has worked on numerous subjects, the relationships between popular culture and us and his views of social, political and cultural issues have been predominant. He works in oil, acrylic, mixed media, water color, ink and has also used incision on paper technique.

Ashish has formulated and coined the term Asymmetrism.

His latest series was titled ‘insufficient forms’ was based on asymmetric lines of familiar objects and figures.

Currently he is working on ‘Love series’.
